Bit Chilly
Now that my son is fully in daycare, it's enjoyable watching him start to learn how to socialize with others in his peer group. I wonder if my parents attempted to witness as much of this spectacle of growth as I do as a parent.
We had some scares recently as someone in my son's daycare class came down with a MRSA infection. Thankfully the little girl was ok and responded to medicine. And also thankfully she was never actually in my son's class after having gotten infected, but they still disinfected everything. It's weird to think that it's almost my son's second Halloween. I never really cared for the holiday (or any holiday for that matter really) but I do remember one of my biggest regrets in my life. I know it'll sound silly and what-not, but once me and my best friend decided to go out and 'smash pumpkins'. It was probably on Halloween night, though it could have been the night before or after for all I know. We drove around a subdivision and jumped out of the car and busted pumpkins on the cement. Why do I regret it? Not so much the act, but to think that a parent probably had to explain to their kid that some jackass broke their creation. And that wasn't worth it at all. Oh well, I'm a dick. Go figure.
Speaking of Halloween and stuff like that, my family and I went out to a farm last weekend and got to take a hayride, slide down some amazing slides, and watch our son be his amazing self.
Recently I heard an absolutely amazing house track on the Internets. I was fortunate enough to figure out who it was and what the track was called but I can't for the life of me find it. So torrent away, I suppose, though that's totally lame. I'd actually rather purchase the damn track. It's by Club Nature and called "We Call It Love" and was released in '05 and had some crazy remix which was the version I heard. It's definitely a floor filler.
Speaking of filling floors. The new Jesu and Radiohead are both amazing albums. I think it's funny that so many cats are all into black metal these days. Especially that ratty, old school type of black metal, ala Darkthrone. I mean I'm all for brutally raw metal and all but I think the obsession is somewhat displaced. Recently upped some reviews so go peep them. I'm very anxious to hear some new trance and house music, I need to peek out at some messageboards or something and get some good hints. Ohhh yeah, new Stephen Brodsky album, Pet Genius, is also fucking incredible.
Cool to see the '07 year of baseball near an end, though it was a magical season that found many a homerun hitter looking tired and unable to hit anything other than a line drive. I hope this has nothing to do with the crackdown of illegal drugs and HGH. I would be pretty much devastated if my favorite sports heros were found by Mr. Mitchell of doing something wrong. I've always been a Bonds apologizer but I don't know that I can expand to others. Glad the Yankees finally got rid of Torre, he was overrated as both a manager and a player though he did excel at both. Probably due to his surrounding cast, but whatever.
My neighbors are never home. It's actually pretty weird. I think they're drug dealers or something more sinister. I saw the new Transformers movie. It was mind-blowing. I'm currently trying to get through the mammoth movie "Flags of Our Fathers". It's pretty interesting and action-packed. I want to see "Rendition" as well as "Into the Wild". My wife is seeing the later on Monday and I hope she likes it as much as the Eddie Vedder penned soundtrack.
It would be amazing if the Rams won a game and the Redskins beat the Patriots but I won't hold my breath for either. Oh well, there's always next year right?
My brother-in-law loaned me his sampler. I need to get to work damn it. I really am yearning to craft some crazy tunes--would love to write an ambient/noise/drone album.
It's cold outside and windy. Thankfully it rained. About time to start a new week, dontcha think?
