Hey My Predictions Weren't Too Bad

I'm a nerd and stayed up until around midnight last night watching the election results as they came in. I would bounce from the VA site to the television, giddy as a schoolboy! Elections are always fun for me. I enjoyed last year's governor's race and of course I'm all over the mid-terms and Presidential races as well as all the primaries.

So it looks like I was right about Talent (D-MO), Santorum losing, Lieberman winning, Burns losing in Montana, Blackwell and DeWine losing, Chafee losing, Allen will eventually concede, I seriously doubt VA goes through a whole recount. But I was totally wrong about Erhlich winning. That was a pretty close race though.

It's great that Rumsfeld resigned. The writing was totally on the wall now that the administration will actually have to answer hard questions about an unpopular war. Don't look for him to get any medals from Bush either. There's going to be a lot of resentment towards a lot of administration officials. I wouldn't be surprised to see Condi go next or more probable is Gonzales. Then look for the Bush team to keep their noses clean and under the radar. Not only are they a lame duck session now but they can't afford to further divide their base or lose the moderate independent vote like they did for these midterms. Everyone's eyes are on the prize in 2008, and since both of the two leading candidates for the GOP nomination are McCain and Rudy Guilani, both somewhat moderate, I don't think it would be smart if the GOP leaders courted the extreme right-wing voter. In fact I'd bet that Bush might bring on a moderate to right-leaning Democrat to replace someone at a Cabinet level position. That way if they do push things that blow up there will be egg on the face of Democrats too. Anyway it was a good night. I just wish Virginia hadn't retardly voted in hate into legislation again. Ugh.

Edit: My wife pwned me and said I should spell Lincoln Chafee's name right. So I got that fixed. And also I'd like to remind her to watch out for incoming text messages!
