11 Days Later

So in the eleven days or so that I last posted, I was promoted to a management position, found out that I have little patience to continue to write reviews for Smother for bands that are completely a waste of everyone's time, and now am about to commit to buying a new single family home. All day today we met with a salesman at a local builder and went over various options, upgrades, and floor plans to try to find what fits. One home was really nice and was an immediate move-in. A normally +$650K home with 4300 square feet was going for around $540K. Only problem for me was that it backed to the Prince William Co. Pkwy and that would get annoying after a while. Instead we're going to make an offer on a custom-built home which is still a pretty sweet deal tomorrow. It's incredibly stressful but should be within our price range. It'll be nice to finally be in the home that we will be staying in for decades rather than a handful of years. I'm done with the moving thing and the whole buying a home thing is pretty damn stressful. The house we like has four bedrooms, a 2-story "great room" (I love that name and all but it's going to be the "awesome room" from now on), a finished basement, 2-car garage, a Florida room, crazy walk-in closets, jacuzzi tub, and a gourmet kitchen with phat granite counters. All in all, I think it's like a little over 4,000 square feet. Probably more space than we'll ever need but hardly any lawn to ever mow! WHOOHOO! The lot actually isn't terrible either which is a super big plus. I think it's ridiculous that you actually have to pay for things like an exit from your basement (a cool $8,000!) and a washer and dryer (about $1250 total). Oh well, we were quoted a price roughly around $150-160K off soooo it's better than us buying two years ago! Of course we face the problem of selling our townhouse now though. Especially since our neighbor listed his house too.

Speaking of stressful, my new job is great but since we're so short (if you're a web developer, you should totally get in contact with me immediately!) it's hard to play the role of my former self and my new self at once. Delegation is key but is hard to do when your two employees are pretty stacked up as it is. Thankfully I have a couple of great guys who are eager to learn and build on their skill sets that much more. But katybeck needs to come back! Puhlease! (You can buy my old house too!!! I'll drive you to work!!!)

The Scarface PS2 game is pretty awesome. New Deftones album is pretty astonishing so is the fact that Chino is still fat but can still sing. "Cherry Waves" is probably my favorite song. I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving a lot. It's always a fun time and it'll be cool to introduce the next generation in terms of my son to all my relatives. Gnarly!

So tomorrow's plans you ask?

That'll consist of making an offer on this home, being depressed that I don't have more money to put down as a down payment on said home (anyone have about $100,000 that is burning a hole in their pocket?!?!), watching some football, cleaning up our house a bit, being more depressed about not feeling like I'm doing a good enough job of giving my family the best of the best, and probably making some crazy chili in my crock pot!
