Marching Orders

Psychedelic marmalades could drip from the ceiling and I wouldn't give nary a care. This was a great weekend! I got a bunch of reviews done--like 20+ pages in Word and countless entries on Smother. Quite a few good ones and some that I had been holding out on, like Stephen Brodsky's latest album which is a pure audible adventure! Also have been listening to the Primus "They Can't All Be Zingers" greatest hits album a lot lately because it simply is fun to remember-listen!

Today was a fun day indeed. It started off with me awaking an hour earlier due to the whole-back-the-fucking-clock-up scenario, just in case my main man, my son, would wake up at the normal time. He did, but in an effort to allow him to adjust I listened to him via the baby monitor for a good forty-five minutes as he talked, cooed, and wooed audiences (which was sadly just me and one of my cats). I jumped in the shower, got dressed, and readied his bottle.

Then we had fun watching some crazy Tivo'ed Food Channel television programs. I decided it would be great if I went to the grocery store and got stuff to make fudge. So I did! And my main man was a hero, acting very good. We got home and I started to make the fudge only to have my main man start to cry and carry on while I was trying to man a microwave and a double boiler and him! That didn't work out so well as I burned some peanut butter in the microwave--it wouldn't have happened if I had been able to stir! So quickly my endeavors of chocolate + peanut butter with a white chocolate cover fudge became chocolate + white chocolate covering fudge. It was still tasty. Then we watched the remake of "The Omen" and thought how terrible Julia Stiles was--she should have been naked, that would have made her impact somewhat compelling and thought-provoking.

Then it was Football Sunday! Yippee! We hung out and watched a couple of games together. We played, hung out, and sang some songs together. It was immensely fun and I can't wait for the next weekend where it's just me and him. Awesome!

Tomorrow the wife and I go up to DC to go financial plan and stuff. Hopefully we'll learn how it'll just be another year and we'll become millionaires by some odd miracle that I'm unaware of. But seriously it ought to help us figure out how to save for Keegan's college fund and buy a nicer home. Whee!

Not An Island Anymore

So in watching Lost last night I realized at the end (along with all the other viewers) that there's not just one island, but at least two. But I'm taking that a step further and declaring it to be an archipelago! Which of course makes sense, when you note it's filmed in Hawaii. Good show nonetheless.

London's Calling

London to me still beckons with plenty of cool stuff going on. The music scene is to die for as well.

piXELS

pi via pixels. I wonder how accurate that picture is...

As Election Fever Starts to Hit, New Lows From the GOP

This is pretty disgusting and a perfect example of why people should rally behind the powerless Democrats for a change. Now let's just hope that they don't get drunk with power next.

Shower Curtains Don't Make the Rain Go Away

It's a rainy day. I want it to stop so that it doesn't take light-years to get home since it was a while before I got in this morning. You know because people suck and can't remember how to drive when it's wet out. Totally sucks.

When my son is old enough to take showers (or) even baths by himself, maybe we should get him some awesome shower curtains for his bathroom!

This weekend will be cool because one of my wife's friends is coming up on Friday and we'll be hanging out most of the weekend with her. I hope that sometime we can find some time to cruise on over to these houses by the Prince William County Parkway to check out as well. Should be a fun weekend though, her buddy cracks me up and we haven't seen her in years! I'm real excited to continue the house hunt, I just wish we could move forward with something--I'm so compulsive like that.

I'm also now addicted to hummus sandwichs, just add romaine lettuce, slice of tomato, cheese, mustard, pickles, slices of jalapeno peppers, and sweet peppers! There ain't nothing better for a quick healthy bite to eat for vegetarians.

Who else is excited for the World Series to start? I am, I am! Come on NLCS, stop the rain!

Get Your Politico On

The New York Times put together a cool little flash app as an interactive 2006 Election Guide. These are my picks, Democrats sweep! (I don't believe this will happen really since voting machines, gay marriage amendments, and churchs will push out the conservative votes).

The Same Age as Jesus

It's a bummer that CBGB's is over. But it lived as long as Jesus apparantly...

An Improv Sort of Weekend

I invited my mother to come and meet my son for the first time today. She came up around 10am or so and we hung out just the three of us. Our time in awkward city almost required a passport. Lost luggage might have been more appro...but that's just semantics at this point I'm certain.

Hydrahead Records was and is gratious enough to have sent me the latest Stephen Brodsky album "Octave Musuems". You'll have heard of Brodsky via Cave In. It's quite a different view on the world of 'pop' music and explores vast territories seemingly without caring one iota about pleasing any particular crowd. For that alone it gets mega kudos from me. Very '70s psych pop stuff...

My nose just bled like hell and my fingers are stained from catching the blood before it stained my desk. It's cleared up now but after washing my hands I still have bloodstains on my fingers. I feel like that should be symbolic of something but I dunno.

Why do people write 'dunno' when it's clearly, "don't know"? Same reason they write 'alot' with no space? God I hope not.

Apparantly a friend of mine from the high school and college realm just got married to his long-time girlfriend. Good for him. I make zero effort to find these things out on my own and if it wasn't for MySpace I doubt I'd have a single connection to most everyone that I knew in the '90's. Why? Because I'm lazy, selfish, and honestly figure if I don't see you on at least a yearly basis, there's probably some underlying reason.

I went to Blockbuster today and got some ridiculous action movies to watch--well they were quite mainstream, "The Sentinel" and "Inside Job". I was almost excited when the clerk rang me up and said "oh there's a note here about a movie you requested". I almost replied "Oh man, Tom Yum Goong!?!" but just said "Oh IMDB told me it wasn't out in the States yet!" only to be thoroughly disappointed when I was shown a "The Warriors" DVD. No thanks '80's refugee, I'll pass. I suppose I'll just have to wait unless I feel compelled to buy the UK version.

I want Mexican food real badly right now for some reason. I made some crazy Southwestern dish tonight with Japelpeno peppers, tomatoes, green onions, shallots, red pepper, elbow pasta, garlic, various spices, olive oil, and fake meat. Yeehaw vegetarian food! Speaking of good veggie food, we went to Sunflower Kitchen last week and it blew my mind. Curry Supreme is something I could eat every single day of my life and not get bored. Their miso soup sucked ass though--who doesn't put straw mushrooms in miso soup and uses other poopy-smelling mushrooms!? I can't wait to go back sometime soon, just wish it was a little closer. This thought process is continuously making me want to dine out for some reason.

I uploaded a bunch of reviews tonight. Not many good things but a couple bright spots. Moby put out a greatest hits album. He is such a conceited turd. But I guess I can be glad that at least he's a conceited LIBERAL turd. Who writes occasionally good electronic music.

Also, this guy is a fake J-Sin. Fucking faker!

I love these cold fall nights. I like to see my breath. But I really only like it at night. I want the daytime to be between 60 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit (notice how no American says what measurement? We suck).

I watched the Bill Maher show, or "Real Time with Bill Maher" if you're a stickler, and was thoroughly annoyed at this callous bitchy and obnoxious neophyte Danielle Pletka from the American Enterprise Institute. She's their resident expert on Iraq and is a so-called expert on terrorism too. Of course that essentially means being able to debunk arguments with inflated facts, ego, and self-confidence all boiled with bubbly tow-the-official-line-of-rhetoric conservative talking points. She's a Neo-Con with no conscience, which is basically like saying the same thing twice I know. It is interesting to watch as she talks in circles with a declared enemy (by the conservative elitists of course). I think that think tanks and lobbyism in general ought to be banned. These people are essentially useless diplomats and politicians who can't hack it in the political arena so they go to the sidelines to cheer on a side and to funnel money and peddle influence as if their wares are less dangerous than the corner man shedding his burner* since he just talked about a dimebag to his boss. They can all swallow their face for all I care.

I really want to go to a restaurant right now. Fuck not living in New York City where I bet I could go out and get some Egyptian or Korean food right now.

WikiHow Did You Make My Mouth Water?

You're trying to teach me how to taste single malt scotch whiskey the right way and you made me salivate! Jerks.

New Endeavor to Embark Upon!

So after checking out the Top 100 NES Games, I really want to take some emulators, get some roms and build my own arcade. I mean this blog posting is pretty inspiring...

It sure might be nice to have a crazy 20" wide screen monitor. Dell is selling one on the cheap. But is the wii on my x-mas list? I'm not telling!

Meanwhile it's all too true that the Democrats haven't won yet. So let's not get out the bubbly quite yet. I don't believe that the Republicans won't bring out an October surprise of their own that may include either Osama's body (what were Pakistan's president and Bush talking about ya think?) or just all out hacks/stealing of the vote despite the fact that finally the media is beginning to pay attention to all of the election machine/vote counting issues.

As if the Yankees didn't have it bad enough to lose Cory Lidle in such a tragic way is pretty terrible. Sucks, he was a decent to above average middle of the rotation pitcher but more importantly seemed to be a decent human being. As a new father I realize how important it is for you to watch over yourself so that you can stay alive and see as much of your kid's lifetime as possible. And on that note, boy am I excited for the weekend to come...

Tom Yum Goong

I'm disappointed that this movie isn't on DVD yet in the States. It's coming out tomorrow in the UK! Man I seriously can't wait for this movie to come out, the woman at Blockbuster looked at me crazy when I asked her about it.

Today I'm home with the little one. We went for a walk already, ate some foods, and rented some movies (sadly no "Tom Yum Goong" aka "The Protector"). It's been a blast thus far, bummer that I have to go back to work tomorrow.

If I Was Running For Congress

Here would be my ad:

Rep. Mark Foley, sexual predator
Rep. Duke Cunningham, accepted bribes
Rep. Tom DeLay, corruption at the highest levels
Rep. Dennis Hassert, buried warnings about sexual predator Foley
Jack Abramoff, corrupt lobbyist that influenced many GOPers
And we haven't even gotten into Iraq, the lopsided economy, health care, protecting social security, or the failures of our government during 9/11 and Katrina.
Republicans can't handle power or leadership roles, you're tired of it, and so are we.

It's Been a While and Other Non-Staind Related Musings

Oh Staind, remember them? I don't listen to commercial radio (other than traffic on the '8's and C-SPAN) which I don't remember ever playing terrible alt-rock. But do you remember me? It's been a while since my last post. Why do you ask? What amazing and awesome things have kept thee from polluting the Internet with your ramblings? Mostly just work, I've had a busy well, month or so. But finally it seems like the server I wrote a while back is able to withstand the constant beating it gets every day. Mental note, when another company that you rely on for served content doesn't close a socket--YOU BETTER DO IT. Locked threads can taste it! Yeah so lot's of stress and pressure and all that fun but I think it's over with.

Enough of that. Yesterday I took the day off to help my wife take my son to the doctor's. It was shot day and he got four shots and some crazy liquid immunization for roto virus. He screamed as kid's do when they get shots. He was pretty worked up. It hurts the muscle that they inject it in as the medicine works its way into the body. All these vaccines and immunizations wig me out. I guess it's for the best when you note areas that don't get these sorts of pre-treatments but man it feels wrong to inject anything bad into your body. Ah well. Soon my little man will be starting on somewhat solid food in the form of rice cereal. Yummy!

I've gotten back in touch with my mother which is a good thing I suppose. Sometimes you just have to shrug it off. I'm also about three days behind in my personal email which sucks. Saw "Thank You For Smoking" again, now that it's out on DVD. Man what a terrific movie.

It's nice to have a four-day weekend. Tonight we hope to go into the city to get some crazy food in our systems. Perhaps we all should just listen to classical music and kick it. Then the world would be a better place, right?

The whole Mark Foley scandal is pretty crazy. Another reason we need real change in government and no I'm not even just talking about Democrats since half the time they're just the lesser evil. I mean corruption, lobbying, term limits, real oversight, all of it, needs a clean slate. But there's no one in politics nuts enough to tackle it for real. And why should they? What does it really benefit them?
