An exciting year for baseball

First off, it's exciting to watch Pujols just destroy National League pitching. He's a man good enough to recognize that people need to back off of Bonds. I sure am getting tired of the media's treatment of a player who cheated no more than any other Hall of Famer.

But it's also exciting to watch Detroit battle Chicago for the top of the AL Central. That Justin Verlander kid is dynamite but I'm a little disappointed in Curtis Granderson who hopefully won't become Corey Patterson Part Two. In the National League equal, it's nice to see Cincinnati finally doing something with all those bats. Who would have thought it would come from pitching by Aaron Harang and Broson Arroyo? Snaps to them.

But in my own east sides, it's disappointing to see the Braves finally succumb to their payroll slashing cuts. But it's nice to watch the farm system produce guys like Jeff Francoeur. They've always done great stuff with their farm clubs. But the Mets? Oh man, I'd regret seeing them win the division but with Florida barely being able to be labeled a polished turd. It'd be better to see my local Nationals doing well. But they're in a sad state of non-hitting and non-pitching. Plus I guess I hate the Phillies too. So whatever.

But the AL East is interesting. I knew that Toronto would line up a good team but was sad to see how awful Tampa Bay's starting pitching truly is. Boo on that! I'd love to see those kids kick some butt, they have probably the best set of young outfielders of any team. I love Gathright, just wish he could figure out how to get on base more often so he could show off that blazing speed. Boston and New York of course are battling it out for the top position. And while that always makes for good drama I sure would like to see one of the other worthy teams up atop of the AL East.

But the MOST exciting thing about baseball is that I'll be able to watch some games with my son this year. That's gonna be amazing. He might not understand why daddy is ranting and raving but those will be some of the most special moments in my entire life.
